Balmes, Abraham ben Meir de

   Italian physician and grammarian. He was born in Lecce. He became court physician to King Ferdinand I of Naples. He translated a number of medieval Arabic works from the Hebrew versions into Latin. His Mikneh Avraham is a standard work on Hebrew grammar.
